The Value of Online Data Protection
Business professionals and IT managers are increasingly drawn to the cost effectiveness of online services to back up and recover corporate data distributed throughout their business on desktops, laptops and mobile devices, according to a recent white paper from Autonomy Systems Ltd.
The paper, How to Measure ROI for Online PC Backup and Recovery, explores the business case for deploying online data protection services rather than continuing current methods of backup and recovery, or implementing other onsite alternatives. It also highlights "soft" benefits that are difficult to quantify but add real value to companies evaluating any data protection strategy. Read more.
Our customers are becoming more and more interested in RemoteStor data recovery products and OneSecure managed security services. Over the past two years we've invested substantial capital and human resources into these solutions and hired product experts who specialize in guiding customers through the assessment process. CIOs Starting to Embrace
A recent white paper, Managing the iPad in the Enterprise, written by TechTarget's Linda Tucci and Michael Brandenburg reveals that more than 80 percent of Fortune 100 companies have deployed or are testing iPads. Carolina Milanesi, research vice president in the mobile device group at Gartner Inc. told Tucci "our advice to CIOs has been to go out and get one and make sure you know what this thing is, because like it or not, it is coming into your enterprise."
Tucci reports that CIOs are increasingly comparing notes about how to deploy mobile devices in a manner that ensures corporate data is secure while accommodating employee-owned device trends in the workplace, commonly called BYOD (bring your own device). Dick Escue, CIO at RehabCare Inc., told Tucci, "We refuse to be that IT department that was always saying no to everything. If you think you are going to stand there as an enterprise and say no in the face of unbounded technology for the consumer, you're foolhardy." Read more.
